Neeloupfhar Shaikh Founder, Future Steps of Autism
My name is Neeloupfhar Shaikh. I was born and raised in India and have lived in the United States for the past 25 years. I currently work as a Software Engineer. My lived experiences and personal journey have been the inspiration behind starting this program.
Through these experiences, I have gained a deep understanding of neurodivergence and the unique ways neurodivergent individuals think, learn, and thrive. I have come to appreciate their interests, strengths, talents, and sensitivities, as well as the challenges they and their families often face while navigating education, employment, and social acceptance.
One of the greatest concerns for many families is the uncertainty surrounding the future, especially after high school. Although many neurodivergent individuals are highly skilled and capable, they continue to face barriers to employment, inclusion, and community support.
This program is designed to help bridge that gap by creating opportunities for growth, independence, and inclusion — not only for neurodivergent youth and their families, but also for society as a whole. Neurodivergent individuals bring valuable perspectives, creativity, and strengths that can make meaningful contributions when they are supported and empowered.
